I was at the Lausanne conference in Korea in September.
On the first full day of the Conference, for a whole morning, we heard a variety of speakers who made us hungry as they dug into revival stories.
Here were some of the reflections on revival…
“Revival is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit, an accelerator to the “normal” work of the Spirit. Only God can send revival.
We need travailing prayer – like a woman in childbirth, like Hannah weeping in prayer, like Jesus in the Garden. So much takes place through wordless groaning.
Africa 100 years ago had 9 million believers – today half a billion. A roar in the African church.
We serve a God who is in the resurrection business.
Revival comes to communities that are desperate for God.
And these challenges…
What helps make it happen? A willingness to ask for forgiveness from each other – for our pride, lack of unity, corruption and abuse.
What works against it? Revival may happen but if it doesn’t have leaders of character it won’t last
Have we got a posture – ready to receive revival? Can you hear the rumbling in the distance of a revival for Japan?
There is power in a faithful witness. We can’t run away from opposition…Persecution has never killed the church. Discomfort is needed for growth to happen.
Suffering and persecution is a part of the story not the end of the story.
The persecution of Christianity in Japan seemed for the last 400 years to have worked. Let us pray for breakthroughs for Japan in the heavenly places.
Father you moved in Wales, Scotland and Korea Please do it in Japan…
By installing a smartphone app called Echo, you will be able to use various functions that help you pray, such as reminder notifications.
