PRAYER GUIDE – WEEK 1

Tokyo is the hub for Japan’s banking, transportation, and broadcasting industries. The city showcases some of the best attractions, food, and comforts that the world has to offer. About a third of Japan’s population lives in the greater Tokyo area. 

Pray for more churches and servant leaders to reach the millions living in Tokyo. 

Pray for the gospel to become more visible in this busy megacity and for its message of truth and grace to move people’s hearts in ways that all the pleasures of Tokyo cannot.

Sadly in Japan, political leadership can be more about factional dynamics with self-seeking parties than by politicians who have a dream of being nation builders.

Pray that the current government would be able to make the needed reforms to address economic and birth rate issues.

Pray for wisdom for leaders as they know best how to respond to the war in Ukraine, challenges with China, natural disasters and how to respond to the Unification Church and the politics around it. 

Pray for Christian politicians. Pray they will receive much wisdom and their lives will be a good testimony.  Pray especially for Pastor Michihito Kaneko who became a member of the House of Councillors. Pray he will be protected and that God will use him to grow the Kingdom.

There has long been a conviction that committed prayer is needed for a significant breakthrough of the gospel in Japan. There is also a growing global interest in praying for Japan—mission agencies are receiving emails and inquiries from around the world. A conviction to pray, Christians who want to pray, and the means to share information—these are rich starting materials for a prayer movement. 

Believers in Japan long for spiritual breakthrough that will impact the culture, society, and church. We also long for breakthrough in every person.

• Praise God that he is calling people all over the world to pray for spiritual breakthrough in Japan. 
• Pray that God would prepare churches and Christians in Japan to respond to a breakthrough of people coming to faith.

Pray Christians would be salt and light as they meet and interact with their own community.

Pray for Christians to share their faith with friends and neighbors.

Pray for local Churches that they would leave the building and reach out to the community and that Churches would want to work together with other Christians.

Pray God will move powerfully in communities across Japan
