“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19
April sees many new beginnings in Japan . Schools and Universities are starting. Pray this month that we may also see God doing new things, making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland!
Pray for those entering colleges and universities for the first time this month. Pray for KGK and other groups like Young Life and Chi Alpha working in universities. Pray for the welcoming events for new students that Christians are running. Pray for Christian students to grow, stand firm in their faith and have a desire for their friends to know Jesus.
Pray for High School Born Again (hi-b.a.) organization as it seeks to disciple high schoolers in the midst of their busyness with studies and school activities. Give wisdom as they seek new ways to reach these students in Japan. Pray that Christians across Japan will understand how society and the younger generation is changing and be able to proclaim the Good News in a way which connects to young people’s hearts and is sensitive to the times.
The average Japanese church now sees less than one baptism a year. With increasingly elderly congregations pray that churches will reach the next generation for Jesus. 30 percent of churches do not have any children’s work. Pray for more Japanese people to be connected with local churches and will ask to be baptised.
Pray for strategies for the Japanese church to reach the next generation for Jesus. May it find ways of worshipping where young people can find warm fellowship and experience joy.
In Japan nearly 1,500 communities with populations of 3,000-50,000 have no church.
Pray that Christians will be burdened to pray for and go to communities that have no church. Even though the Japanese church is small may it have faith to move forward in a spirit of mission and reach out to those areas where there is no Christian witness.
Help the church to be aware of these mission fields on their doorstep and give creative ideas for reaching out and planting churches.
Jesus asked us to pray for more workers for the harvest (Matthew9:38)
Nearly half of Japanese pastors are over 70 and only 10 percent are under 50. Thirty percent of churches have no pastor. There is an urgent need for more gospel workers and more lay ministry. Yet with long working hours and little free time, few Japanese are able to make room for much more than attending a worship service.
Pray that Japanese Christians will have the desire to receive training for full-time and lay ministry. May pastors also have a passion to train and trust their members to be effective disciple makers.
Finally Pray that each church in Japan may be involved in its local community as salt and light, reaching out to the people in the area, especially in times of trouble or disaster when hearts may be more open.
Spent time today praying for the Spirit of God to touch and convict the lives of millions of Japanese people.
Pray that God will do new things across Japan.
